EP Review: Flower Fellow – The Rabbit

This is just the beginning for budding songstress Flower Fellow: Signed to Circus City Records, featured on BBC Introducing as well as Fresh on the Net AND just released a debut single – well not many 17 year olds can say that!

And not many 17 year olds can sound like that either!

After the success of single ‘White and Blue’ earlier this year, the talented teen is back with new EP release ‘The Rabbit’ – full of folky fun, falsetto flips and Florence Welch style twang, Flower is certainly one to watch on the festival front row with a tune like this. The blend of tribal drums with soft controlled vocals creates a beautiful natural melody but mashed with the echo effects and harmonies creates the depth and passion that makes ‘The Rabbit’ so stunning. Also on the EP is ‘Yellow Line’ which has a more electric sound and encompasses an indie energy with powerful vocals and weighty drums that wouldn’t sound out of place in The Hard Rock Cafe! ‘White and Blue’ completes the EP and adds a  calmer, breathier sound to the mix.

It is clear from ‘The Rabbit’ that the blossoming teen really embodies her stage name with her delicate, elegant vocal sound and intricate style well beyond her years, yet is bringing back the tone from an era she wasn’t even born in! Flower captures the frivolous 70s vibe of music, art and fashion with a mix of folk style acoustic guitar melodies, dreamy vocals and rocky drum beats.

We’ll be pulling peace signs, braiding our hair and plucking on the nearest guitar in no time, welcome to the new age of  ‘Flower Power’!

For Fans Of: Florence Welch, Lana Del Rey, Fleetwood Mac

Happy listening!
