FASHION IS FUN! Remember that! It’s supposed to be feel good, create a mood, help you express yourself and above all else give you that confidence boost, something we are all probably looking for in these times!
If you missed me nattering away about #Fashion in #Lockdown on BBC Radio London with Jason Rosam bright and early yesterday morning then you can listen back here https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p088vbzp
I know that it’s a serious situation that we are in but I’m always here to try and make light and have a bit of fun. Here’s some questions I hope I have answered for you as well as a few tips for getting dressed up in lockdown and why I think you should!
Q. What’s the point in getting dressed up to sit at home and not see anyone?
A. Routine my people and sticking to a schedule, I get up every morning, do my hair and make-up and select an outfit. For me fashion helps me feel good, there’s nothing like slipping into something #SASSY and strutting your stuff! It helps you get in the right mind frame too! Whether you’re working from home or just chilling, do it in style!
Q. What if I don’t feel like making an effort?
A. I know it’s hard being stuck indoors but make a point to do something fun and get dressed up for it just like we would in normal life! Check out Amanda Holden on Instagram taking out the bins in a frock!
Maybe it’s someone’s birthday coming up, my cousin and his friends put on their suits, bow ties and ball gowns to celebrate his 30th, I LOVE that! Or make an event yourself, invite friends to a Friday night #zoom chat, or play pretend pubs, get on #HouseParty and have a drawing contest!
We did a quiz with Riverside Radio last Friday and it was so uplifting and so lovely to see all those faces!
Even if it’s a date night with your partner, my boyfriend Luke and I put on our ‘going out’ clothes to have dinner and play Bongos Bingo! So much fun!
Q. Can we still shop online?
A. Yes hunnies AND there are some fab discounts; Coast has got 50% off, Karen Millen has 40% off, Reiss and All Saints up to 50% off! They are operating a business as usual with social distancing policies being adhered to in their warehouses to ensure deliveries can still take place! Yay! I’ve just ordered this gorgeous bikini from EBC …
And check out this incredible suit from Reiss, workwear or party wear right!? And a bargain at £125 for the blazer which was £265 and just £55 for the shorts which were £110! Saving you a whopping £195 can I get a woo hoo!!
Q. I don’t want to buy something and then not be able to return it within the time frame because of the lockdown restrictions if I don’t like it / it doesn’t fit!
A. Most places have extended their returns policy to 90 days or 30 days from the day the stores re-open! Check each store individually but I can tell you that Zara will offer refunds up to 30 days after stores re-open. Asos have extended to 90 days from purchase.
And Other Stories are offering FREE delivery and 100 days return. All Saints / Reiss and Ted Baker have 60 day returns in place. TopShop have said 14 days after stores reopen for any purchases made in store before lock down and 45 days for online purchases.
Q. So what’s trending in lockdown?
A. Well it has to be #Loungewear doesn’t it!
Check out In The Style’s #celeb edit, with loungewear pieces by Jac Jossa, Olivia Bowen, Charlotte Crosby and newest recruit Shaughna Phillips, they also have 10% going to Age UK!
My fav has to be the blue two piece, I just love the colour! £25 for the hoody and £22 for the joggers.
Q. Are there places I can shop guilt free or lend a hand to charity?
A. Yes absolutely! Firstly you should NEVER feel guilty about doing something you want to do but that’s nice that you want to help out where you can!
As above like In The Style are doing, many companies are donating a percentage of profits to assist with various charities. There are also some great charity Tshirts out there too! Check these out!
Q. Any other tips?
A. Of course! My top tips are to add a pop of #colour, it always lifts the mood, a simple red blazer takes an outfit from drab to fab or just go all out with a colourful dress, even colourful jeans and a white Tshirt can look super chic!
And accessorise like you’ve never accessorised before! I’m talking going very very OTT, get those oversized earrings out, grab a headband and don those fingers with as many rings possible!
And finally, now is a great time to declutter the wardrobe, pick out your fav pieces and experiment with something new or go completely over the top and put on a ball gown to take out the bins!! Remember Fashion is supposed to be Fun!
So let me know what you’ve been wearing in #Lockdown share your style and tips with me at @lexiecarducci on socials and don’t forget I’m still bringing you #FashionThursday every Thursday on Riverside Radio tune in here – https://www.riversideradio.com/listen/
